Volunteers Make it Happen!

A nonprofit is as strong as the community that holds it up. Together, we can do more than we can do alone. Let's bring our abilities and passions together to affect real change.   There are many ways to join us and support our mission. Find out more about volunteer opportunities, fundraising events, and ways that you can get involved.

Volunteers are vital to the work of the Community Center. Our volunteers manage various positions within our organizations such as front desk, community outreach and distribution, programming, assistance with special events, and more.

In order to become a Center volunteer, you must be at least 10 years old and complete the following:

  1. Online registration and application.
  2. A three-hour volunteer orientation at BEST Community Resource Center. You can sign up for volunteer orientations by speaking to our front desk staff at 216-465-1125.
  3. A background check for ages 16+ through Sterling Volunteers.  After completing orientation, you will receive an e-mail with the background check prompt.

*Please Note: a criminal record will not prevent you from volunteering at the center, but it may prevent you from working with certain programs and/or populations of the center's guests.

  1. Depending on your volunteer role, there may be further training or interviews required, such as a shadow shift at the front desk or a sit down with a program coordinator.

On some occasions, we are able to accommodate one-time group volunteer opportunities when we have large projects.

For any questions regarding volunteering or if you are interested in/have an idea for a group volunteer project, call us at 216-465-1125 or send us a message under the Contact Us Tab.
